Who is the best builder between Maingear, Origin, Digital Storm, and Xidax. I basically have lost the last 20 plus years of my life(personal I won't get into here) and am trying to pick back up. I have been trying for the last month and a half to try to catch up on computers which I love. But I have a long long way to go. (probably years) I can't afford to make a mistake on this buy. Which is also why I can't build myself. From what I have learned these are good(except Xidax not sure about them). I have liked maingear the best then digital storm but was hoping for some help.... thanks...

The next time you just want to talk please use the discussion option instead of ask a question.

Questions get answers, discussions get conversations.

Please read the stickys - knowing how to ask a question is an important step in getting an answer.

When a prebuilt computer breaks, which it will, you will have no idea why or how to fix it.
When a computer you built yourself breaks, which it will, it can be easily fixed because you know whats in it.

You have a lack of knowledge - i'm not faulting you for that. It is the desire to learn that seems to be lacking, and that is what is frustrating.

This is a place to get help, but there are guidelines to be followed. You can use the freeway to get where you want to go, but if you try...

Functionally identical.

What matters are the parts that go into the builds.

A build using the same parts from any of those companies would be... identical.

It would also be identical to what you'd build yourself if you had purchased the parts.

What is your budget? I'd come up with a build that you want, and then, if you're still not comfortable with it building it, go with whoever is cheaper!

I could probably go up to 1500. But i need everything including mouse, keyboard, wifi card. The monitor i might be able to go higher but not to much. I wish i could wait til next year when the next generation of processors comes out cause i read they will not be compatible with these motherboards. If i could start there i would have much more future proof but i can not wait. I also need windows and am to scared to upload myself. Sometimes it seems easy but i have also read some horror stories. I really wanted to try linux but again too much of a wimp. Also wanted to know what do experienced people use for security(somewhat mainstream version). I am pretty sure the second step (i think cannonlake) in the next generation is gonna be 6 cores. Thats another reason why i wanna try to get as powerful and fast a machine as i can or at least as upgradable as possible. Lastly i dont think most of those parts(brands) u listed arent carried by these places. Anyway thanks for your time.......

This is Tom's hardware. Calling yourself a wimp because you're too scared to install the most common OS on the planet isn't going to get you pitty here.

Being unable to deal with maybe a dozen measly screws and 9 parts isn't going to make us feel bad for you - you haven't mentioned being disabled or infirmed, so just do it.

Ask a legitimate question regarding hardware, or go to best buy and grab a prebuilt off the shelf.

A horror story is an accident on the freeway that kills your family. Not a couple screws and an automated installer.

WOW BRO... wasn't looking for pity, was just looking fo advice. As far as it being that easy, i have seen plenty of stories of problem after problem. But thanks for the love Trump...

Then why self deprecate in a public forum if not to receive some kind of... empathetic reaction?

What advice are you looking for?

You asked the difference between computer builder's quality - there is no difference.
A 6700K in a Z170 with 16GB of RAM and a 600W PSU with a GTX 1080 will perform identically, regardless of who builds it. Dell, HP, Me, You, Maingear, it doesn't matter - the quality and robustness comes from the components.

The advice is - find a build you want. Do you want an i7 6700k? with a GTX 1080? Then write that down, and get quotes from the various builders, and go with whoever is cheaper.

You have not asked for any advice, nor said anything. You have written novels of text and downvoted those trying to help. And those walls of text contain... no content at all. And you say i'm trump like? Lol. That "list of parts" that those companies don't have (They don't have Intel i7 CPUs or ASUS mobos? seems hard to believe) is called a signature - its my personal build that i use, not something i'm suggesting you use.

You just proved my point. The down vote or whatever, i did not know what that button was so i pressed to see (first time here other than reading other peoples stuff). It said i down voted u so i tried to up vote it and it would not let me. And thats a signature, thats cool, but i never seen it before. And i said some of those parts not all. But sure i should build my own machine, and hopefully i dont press the wrong down button and then my computer just keeps making fun of me. This is gonna work out great. Thought this place was to talk and learn not for people to talk down to people who dont know as much(like Trump... although he is the guy talking down and does not no much, so maybe wrong analogy)... thanks anyway, see ya around

Not very good at pushing people into building their own i guess. comes off as aggressive as hell.

That makes perfect sense. After 20 years i am just trying to get back to zero. I am in negative territory. When i was young i was good at learning but only cause i had good teachers who I asked alot of questions. Most of the info out there is given assuming the person already knows the basics. These days the world moving so fast u need to stay in the group or get left. Just trying one last time to catch up. Lastly I hate ths guy on the bike. Maybe I should be more understanding... see ya
