Hi so i recently on xmas built a brand new gaming pc, In which i installed 2x8gb sticks of ripjaws v ddr4 ram @2400mhz into it. Well on my pc it shows in task manager only 12.3 is avalible and at 2133mhz. Any idea idea as to why is says that i only have so much available and at these speeds? Also in speccy it says 16.0GB Dual-Channel Unknown @ 1067MHz any help?

Solution
You are running dual channel 2133 which is 1067 x 2.
To get 2400 speed, you probably need to select a 2400 speed xmp profile in your bios.
It will make no difference, so don't bother.

Task manager ram available is what windows can use for loading more data instantly without releasing data already in ram.
All 16gb is available, some is actively used, some is simply kept around in anticipation of reuse, and some is simply available

The SPD on your RAM will "pre-program" it to run at several user selectable speeds w/ said selection being made in BIOS. RAM is always advertised at it rated XMP profile which is overlcoked profile. So when you install the RAM, it will default to the fastest JEDEC approved profile which will likely be 2133. If you download / install CPUz, and run it ...

a) the SPD tab will show you the various JEDEC and XMP options available.
b) When you look at the memory tab, it will read half the current speed as that 1st D in DDR stands fir DOUBLE Data Rate

If you want to run at 2400 ...

a) Open your MoBo Manual to the BIOS section, find XMP section.
b) Go into your BIOS and enable XMP in the manner described in the manual.
