Adding A 1050 ti to a Optiplex 790 mt

I was curious im on a tight budget and im new to the community i build 4 pcs before from scratch but never upgraded an old pc i was planning on a upgraded 16gb ram i5 2400 3.1ghz 500gb hdd optiplex 790 mt but before i do so i want to install a gtx 1050 ti i need to know if the motherboard has an blank pcie slot or if i can install one and how abd also i need to know what the power supply is and what 1050 ti gpu u would recommend for installing it to this pc

I don't think I would risk it unless I was 100% sure the dell proprietary bios supported it fully and if not a full uefi bios no for dang sure

did you look over dell forums on your model to see what cards are known to work and what one will not ???

look over at this one and see kinda risky [opinion]

you see in that one link that board only has a 25w limited pci-e slot and your card may need full 75w atx spec to run better be sure on yours as well

Thought I should chime in as I was just researching this before my own testing. I just got an Optiplex 790 and installed a 650w PSU and a GTX 770 video card with no issues. The BIOS did need to be set to legacy, and I believe junkeymonkey is correct that there will be limitations on things because of the slot on the motherboard, such as it's only pcie 2.0, so my pcie 3.0 video card isn't exactly running at its full potential, but still ran any game I threw at it. Anyway, yes you can put in a better GPU, but keep in mind the limitations of your board and power. My GTX 770 is pulling an average of 210w by itself.
