What's better, 1440p at 144hz or 4k at 60hz

What's better, 1440p at 144hz or 4k at 60hz. I have a gpu that can support both. Asus 1080 A8G. They are both in my price range. Which is better?

4K at 60FPS is very hard to do, and will often require you to make graphical compromises, even with a GTX 1080. 1440p 144Hz is easier to pull off, though you'd still likely have to turn some settings down in some titles to get a consistent 144FPS, and CPU limitations become much more apparent when targeting such a high framerate.
