So I've run into an issue with a couple of games lately (mainly RB6 Siege) and I get really bad screen tears,
I've got Vsync on ( toggled it both on and off ) and it hasn't seemed to fix the issue, I'm running a 980ti with an Acer GN246HL and I'm running a VGA to Display port cable if that makes any difference

any help is greatly appreciated!

Solution
Sounds like some sort of hardware issue. It does look like tearing, but as you see, the cable did make a difference, showing that hardware issues can cause the same effect. Have you tried a different display to see if it persists?

"Have you tried a Dual link DVI cable, so you can actually run it at 144hz?

A vga to dp cable isnt a great option really."

Will any old Dual link cable work for my monitor and my card? From what it looks like my card is DVI-I and my monitor is DVI-D
Sorry if this is a dumb question

DVI-I supports both DVI-D and DVI-A cables.

That actually looks like tearing. The question is why isn't V-sync activating? V-sync does fix that, if it is working. Make sure you are using V-sync inside the game. Forcing it on from the control panel won't always work. It's also possible that game doesn't support it. While rare not to, not all games support V-sync.

Any dual linke dvi cable, doesnt matter if its DVI-I or DVI-D, just must be dual link.

Sorry for the late reply but I did end up getting a DVI cable and it fixed it almost instantly
However there is still some tearing but its not as bad as it was before

It's hit or miss at this point, But it's not as bad as it was before, I think this is as good as it's gonna get for me
