My heatsink screws can't reach the motherboard!

Hello, I recently purchased a new motherboard. The board in question is the
MSI Intel H81 LGA 1150 DDR3 USB 3.1 Micro ATX Motherboard
so everything fit in fine, however the screws dont have a place to be put in? It seems it didn't come with a backplate and the previous motherboard was a stock so the backplate is fused with the motherboard (for lack of a better word). I now after having placed my cpu and tried to place the heatsink it didn't want to connect, it was too low by about 2 centimeters. How can I remedy this? Is there backplates I can buy? or should I just buy a new heatsink and fan?

Are trying to reuse an existing stock cooler? A new cooler will come with screws, backplate, and whatever is needed to mount it, whether Intel or AMD. You most likely will not be able to reuse the stock cooler on another MB. I would go with a new CPU cooler.
