Could not complete Win10 installation from USB

I just bought and built a new computer, and a friend gave me a SSD to put the OS on. I got a free product key for Windows 10 Educational from my college, and I ran the 'MediaCreationToolRetail.exe', which the college had me download, on my laptop. Upon running it, I was able to choose from an ISO or a USB. I choose USB, which then downloads (what seems to be) the Windows 10 setup onto my USB drive. Plug this in to the new computer, run the Windows 10 Setup, create a partition on the SSD, and off it went. When it got to the point where it needed to restart, it just restarts into 'Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation'. I tried with multiple partition sizes, which didn't work. I suspected the SSD may just not be working (very tech savvy analysis, if I say so myself), so I tried to install it to the Hard Drive, which didn't work. I then assumed that maybe something happened when the files were put onto the USB Drive, so I re-ran the MediaCreationTool, and tried all of the above, again, and it didn't work. I'm at a loss.

Edit: Some people I've found on Google suggest opening command prompt at the error screen and doing some other stuff, I cant. My keyboard is not working on this screen.

when you got to part where it restarts, did you remove the USB then? Sometimes if you don't it restarts the installer again.

I would suggest removing the hdd, and trying to so a fresh install on the SSD again
Follow this guide: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/1950-windows-10-clean-install.html and once it gets to part where it has installed windows and is ready to set up users/desktop, then take USB out.

how far did you get installing onto hdd? You might want to run the free version of https://dban.org/ on it if its got a messed up install on it now, and format it as storage.

What are the parts in the PC?

I left the USB in, because I figured the installer had more work to do, and needed it. I have not reached the part of the install where it is ready to set up Users/Desktop (unless that's where it's getting hung up). I got just as far on the HDD as I did on the SSD.

Parts:
2TB Seagate HDD
250GB SanDisk SSD
i5-6500
RX470
Gigabyte H110M-A
650W PSU
2x8GB DDR4 2100 Ram

I have removed the HDD, and attempted another fresh install on the SSD using the guide you have provided, and removing the USB Drive, and I am still receiving the error at the same place.

i wonder if this works
boot from installer, on 2nd screen after languages, choose repair this PC, not install
choose troubleshoot
choose advanced
choose command prompt
try to follow those instructions and see if it works

'cd oobe'
The system cannot find the path specified. (Also tried Windows/system32/oobe)

It might be because you running off the USB at that stage whereas the menu is on C or possibly X drive. The drive letters are all mixed up when you boot off USB

Need to type X: to swap drives [Drive letter followed by :]
type dir to see if its right drive - C might not be X
then cd windows
then cd System32
then cd oobe
then msoobe

I have never seen this error before or I would know how to fix it :)

I get the dir set up, run msoobe, and nothing happens (I presume a window is supposed to open, but doesn't), and it moves down 1 line. But I guess this is progress.

This is from the MS link, i wonder if first part would help you

When prompted with error unable to complete installation:
Hit SHIFT-F10 to bring up command prompt. << you can't do it like this so use cmd how I showed you
type MMC
Click File -> Add/Remove Snap-in... (Or CTRL+M)
Select Computer Management (Double click and Finish on Local Computer)
Click OK
Double click Computer Management (Local) -> System Tools -> Local Users and Groups -> Users -> Double Click Administrator -> Uncheck Account is disabled -> OK
Now right click Administrator -> Set Password... -> Set a decent password to get started.
Now, restart. Should be good to go.

their other step is same as what you already tried

type: CD C:\windows\system32\oobe
type msoobe
enter
Make a generic account and password. hit finish (if it requests a product key and you have one, enter it now. if OEM/No key required, just finish). Set time/date. Finish.
Restart.
Should be good to go.

and it does look like it should make something run. Don't know why it didn't

MMC opens an error "Class not registered"

Edit: I have opened it. Will respond with the results.

Maybe we should try to work out why your keyboard doesn't work at that stage and see if commands work from the error screen. Do you have the KB plugged into a USB 2 slot? Are youn using slots on back of PC?

You shouldn't need to but it might help. Windows has generic drivers for keyboards & USB 2 & 3 so it should function then.

shame you don't have a PS2 keybaord as they seem to work when usb ones don't.

I do not see Computer Management as an option in MMC.

It's plugged into a USB 2.0 slot in the back of the computer. The screen responds to my mouse, though (only clicking I think, there's no mouse cursor). I've tried moving where things are plugged in around, which didn't make a difference.

There are only 3 options in the list. ActiveX Control, Folder, and Link to Web Address

We aren't getting anywhere.

This isn't a common error as i been fixing win 10 errors for last year and never seen it. I will ask elsewhere but you might want to ask on here as they may have a better way: https://www.tenforums.com/installation-setup/

It would seem the MediaCreationTool my college provided had some sort of issue, using the one from the Microsoft website worked. Thanks for your assistance, however, @Colif. It's appreciated greatly.

Hey there, I'm in a nearly identical situation as OP. Got key from college, same error, keyboard and mouse are not responsive, double checked that keyboard works, tried installing on different drives, reset BIOS settings... I'm at a loss. The college did not provide any unique installer; in fact, I think the page where I got it just linked to the normal downloads on Microsoft's website.

Not sure if you have any additional ideas...

UPDATE: I've solved the issues. There were two things I did: when using the media creation tool, instead of letting it burn the USB I generated the ISO, and burned it myself using Rufus. Then, when installing, select the option to say you don't want to give a key yet, and install Windows 10 Home. Once Windows 10 Home is installed and working, you can upgrade to Windows 10 Education using your key.
