Best Way to Cool CPU Not Overclocked

Hello everyone, I am currently looking at parts to build a PC soon and am looking at the best way to cool my CPU. I will not be overclocking my CPU as I won't need to at 4.2 Ghz, and for what I would use it for.

For reference this is going to be the CPU I will be using: Intel i7 4.2 Ghz - Newegg

Now I definitely know I will not build a custom water cooling loop, but I am not opposed to an AIO water cooling. So what I am asking is should I get an air cooler or use an AIO water cooler. And then what cooler would you recommend? Trying to minimize noise if possible.

Solution

Get an air cooler, it will last a lot longer and give you a lot less problems.
My choice for a silent one would be (depending on the case) a Noctua NH-D14 or D15, expensive but they are worth the money.

If you have room for it I'd go with a Noctua CPU cooler. I'm very partial as I own one and they're all pretty great. The fans are 'the best', I wouldn't even bother with water cooling. But if you want an AIO I'd recommend the Nepton 280L from CM.

P.S - There are a lot of great CPU coolers, I'd recommend doing your own research on YouTube/Google.

OK, in that case it'd make more sense to go for an i5-7500 or i7-7700 as you aren't planning to overclock. If you're using Adobe software to render video then you want a fast clock speed and the most amount of threads possible. That doesn't mean an i5 is incapable, it'll just take longer.

If you have a Z170 motherboard then buying the i7-7700K is a better long-term investment, as overclocking can extend the lifespan of a CPU. That said, an i7-7700 should provide all the performance you need for a long time.

The standard Intel cooler will do the job, but the fan may get rather loud when the rendering starts. If you want an aftermarket CPU cooler, then the Cryorig H7 will provide all the performance you need. An AIO cooler is simply a waste of money and more prone to failure.

Cooler Master H212 EVO will do fine and save you money. You also shouldn't get the K model if you won't be overclocking. You are just wasting money in doing that, as the entire point of an unlocked processor is to overclock.

Would this be it? Noctua NH-D15
