I'm making a pc and I wanted to know if I could improve on anything. I feel like it's an overall complete build but you can never be too sure

GTX1080 is overkill for a 1080p monitor. A 1070 will suffice.

Additionally, unless you're being sold a h170 board that has proper BIOS support for a kaby board or own a 1151 CPU, it likely won't work the first time around. Get a B250 / H270 board.

PSU could be better. I'm thinking Corsair CX550M for quality purposes.

I agree with Justiceinacan, the GTX 1070 is a better fit for a 1080p 144hz monitor. Also, with going with a socket 1151 CPU, definitely go with the 2XX series mobo, there are a lot of cool upgrades that they did with the 200 series that weren't available on the 100 series. Otherwise I think you've done pretty good.

I had the 1080 for the possibility of vr in the future. That's pretty much only for that. Imma get more monitors and such later on. But I switched the power supply and motherboard.

(Btw anyone know a good 1440p monitor?)

All I know about 1440p monitors is that they are quite pricey and that's why I went with 4k. I also don't game with 2016+ AAA games so I can go maxed out all day with my 980ti so I have no complaints. A GTX 1080 with a decent 1440p monitor (higher refresh would be nice) would probably be beautiful. I would check out pcpartpicker.com and look for monitors there. You can configure it to look for only 1440p and I believe you can search for specific refresh rates as well and that will give you a good place to start. Just make sure you check the reviews before you buy something and make sure it isn't a pile of crap.
