After 4 years of 24/7 my assist fan finally gave up. The original fan was pushing air down under the thermal armor. Now I'm wondering if it should actually pull hot air and vent it out into the chassis? The manual does not specify.
Ok I just got a message to expand my question. I'm not sure what else to add so I'll restate my question.
My assistant fan (the 50mmx50mmx10mm) fan that connects to the Sabertooth P67 mobo finally needed replacement. I didn't pay any attention when I installed it and simply set it so it pushed air down toward the mobo and under the Thermal Armor. Now I'm wondering if it would not be better to reverse the fan so that it pulls hot air from under the Thermal Armor and exhausts it into the chassis. I didn't notice a significant decrease in temps for VCCSA, VCore-1 or VCore-2 with the fan installed than without it. The manual doesn't specify which direction this fan should blow.
