Hey everyone, I am looking to build a low budget gaming system for my wife. Im not new to building pc's but I would like some input on my current build and will be ordering within a week.

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/XPhpNN

I would just like to know if this looks good to you guys/gals. Any alternatives to what I have listed while keeping the build below $750CAD would be greatly appreciated. (Maybe I can save on some components and upgrade another?) All parts are what I need, I dont have a use for a dvd drive and I have extra hdd's that I will throw in later on. Thanks, looking forward to some input.

For gaming, there's about 8% performance difference between the g4600 to the 7100, 5% between the g4620 and the 7100. If the budget is up to 800CAD, then it's your call whether the 14CAD for ~~3% more CPU performance is worth it or not. All of them will be outdated at around the same time as it's hard to imagine a title that somehow strike just right in the middle of those few percentage that separate these CPUs.

The Corsair CXM450 is available for CAD 44.99 @ DirectCanada.

RX470 offer 20-33% better performance compare to 1050 Ti. G1 Gaming version also offers RGB Logo LED and a backplate.

MSI Mortar for looks, LAN, audio and heatsinks over the VRM.

G4600 because it's only 3% performance difference to an i3 6100.

Switched to Dual-channel 2x4GB 2400 CL14 kit instead of single 8GB 2400 CL16 DIMM for more memory bandwidth.

Thanks for your reply!

Video card:
I am looking at some rx 480 cards because they are on sale at ncix right now but I do see what you mean there
Maybe this http://www.ncix.com/detail/msi-radeon-rx-480-gaming-32-134739.htm?promoid=1299

Mobo:
Is the mortar really worth the switch for looks? Haha

Cpu:
I was looking at the g4620 not the g4600. I was also considering the i3 7100 not the i3 6100.

Ram:
I picked 1 stick of 8gb so I can buy another stick of 8gb in the near future.

Going to downsize psu to 450w.

Thanks again for the reply. Lets allow some wiggle room to $800, looking forward to responses/opinions.

MSI Gaming X offers very good balance between cooling performance and noise.

The RX 480 is about 10% more performance than the RX 470 and would be rather unbalanced for the Pentium, which is not a bad thing for a budget build as it will allow you to avoid ending up with an outdated CPU AND GPU at the same time when the upgrade cycle comes (and it will come sooner for a budget gaming build than a mainstream gaming build); i.e. an i5, ~200CAD, upgrade in 2-3 years vs an i5+GTX1050 Ti of its days, ~350-400CAD, in 2-3 years.

My concern is that the 8GB 2400Mhz CL16 stick is no longer listed on Corsair website which could suggest that they're phasing it out in favor of the 8GB 2400Mhz CL14 sticks. So there is a possibility that you may not be able to get that exact stick for maximum compatibility. If you do proceed with the single 8GB stick, I do recommend you getting that 2nd stick as soon as you can.

A part of it is the look, so that the system wouldn't look too "barebones budget". The other part is the Intel LAN chip that has lower CPU overhead, so that more CPU performance would go to the games rather than the network activities (for online MP or background downloading). The heatsinks for its VRM would allow it to run cooler and have a longer life overall (and you wouldn't have to give too much thought to the VRM cooling if/when you want to swap out the Intel stock cooler for something that is either quieter or can cool better).
