i7 7700k overclocked to only 4.7 GHz. I got a enermax liqmax ii 120 liquid cooling system in it, and while playing dayz and streaming, my CPU got up to 94!!!!!! celcius... i immediately stopped playing. Pretty sure the thermal is good on there. Is it my cooler?

Worse thing is.. my pc didnt even shut down by himself..

I recommend you back your overclock down a bit along with the voltage if you have it increased which I'm assuming you do. Its fun to play with but that's running way to hot to keep as your everyday setup playing games etc. You may find you don't have to back down the OC to far say even 4.5 Ghz may run tons cooler. There is a point when adding voltage and boosting clocks the CPU will start using much more power and generate a lot more heat.

You should auto-overclock instead of overclocking by yourself, that would be safer.
Normally 95°C is high but not dangerous for your processor and/or motherboard. It won't go higher, because Intel processors are made to thermal throttle when they detect that they are too hot.
Your motherboard would still have cut the power source above something like 120°C (thermal event), but that's very rare.

Be aware that a 120mm CLC type cooling system like the $60 enermax (Corsair H55) doesn't quite do as well as $25 air cooler (Hyper 212).

Still I'd say something is wrong with the mount or the CLC. 5.0 Ghz is no problem with the 7700k. What is the Core voltage while running (Run HWiNFO , sensors only) ?

Either you were very unlucky with the bin, or your cooling is off.
3 out of 4 will do 4.9

Any cooler, liquid or not needs a source of fresh air to do it's job.

What case do you have, and where/how is the cooler mounted?

Some liquid cooler mounts have problems with applying sufficient pressure on the cpu die to get a good seal.

The shut down point is near 100c.
