So I'm trying to pick a CPU for my build. I'm deciding between the i7 6700 and the i5 7600. (I don't want to have to fiddle with it is why I'm not getting k, I mean if I could set it and forget it with the K model of either I guess sure, but seems locked is more idiot proof.)

The rest of my build is there, but for a quick summary, GTX 1070 and ASUS Z170A mobo.
I plan on eventually getting a VR headset but for now I do digital art and I play a mix of racing/4X/RTS/FPS/RPG games (so like every kind hahaha) and I'm kinda hoping to get 5 years out of it like my last computer got.

I don't really know which CPU is better? the i5 is cheaper sure but it doesn't have hyperthreading, but how much benefit does that really add?
My main question would be: will I notice a difference between the two or should I save the money?

I know that , but right now basically most boards don't have a valid BIOS onboard at present to support 7th gen , AND VERY FEW boards can be updated without a CPU.

Some games will take advantage of hyperthreading in i7, most still dont.
For VR though the i7 is at least speculated to be needed.
For any video editing, 3d modleing, streaming, or cad applicaiton then the extra threads of the i7 will provide significant improvement over i7

As stated you can get the k serries 7 with faster stock clock then the non-overclocked, and get a 270 serries board for out-of-the-box kabylake CPU support.
