I just slapped a low profile GTX 750 Ti into my optiplex 790 sff after hearing all the success others had. I still want to minimize the wear on my precious 240w psu and maximize its life span.

So far I have disconnected the dvd drive and 4 of the backside usb ports, so they wont take any more poor, and I don't use them anyway.

Will that help?
Can I also change the gfx card settings so it uses less power?
Is there anything else I can do?

well...yes to reducing the power. It's possible. It's called an underclock. When you do it, you'll also reduce it's performance. Now, with that out of the way, there is absolutely no reason to. Your motherboard provides 75 watts to the PCI-E slot that the card is plugged into. It's part of your motherboard power requirements. Your card only needs that power, not more. Additionally, it only uses those 75w under full graphics workload. Unless you're playing a video game, you're always going to be below your power target anyway. So...if you want to know how to underclock your card, Download MSI afterburner and reduce it's current setting.
Generally devices wont use power if you arent using them (unplugging them is an option though).
For the GPU, you could lower the clock speeds and power targets, but I wouldnt bother.

You dont stand to save that much power via small tweaks like those, and the 240w unit will either last or it wont. Shaving a few watts wont extend its life.
