Gsync and screen tearing

does Gsync completely remove screen tearing or does it just lessen it. I have it on but i see screen tearing when i play older games like odyssey journey to the west

It will remove it. Some games "fullscreen" is actually not fullscreen but rather borderless windowed so gsync isn't on. You may just need to set vsync on for those games.
