Hey guys
so im water cooling a gtx 480 (yeah i know its old dont even say it) im aware how old it is yet its performance is around about the same as the 750ti and i couldn't care less for power usage. now a 750ti would set me back around $150 AUD and upwards OR i could get 2 gtx 480's WITH the water blocks for $60 AUD and since over here its around $80 and upwards for one usually its an offer i cant pass up (ive been hunting for a 480 for a while even just for decoration because i have a thing for them).
now im only going to be using the one for now so i need to know what size Rad it needs ive heard that a 120mm will be sufficient but idk how true that is.
cheers guys.

Thx :D.

The gtx 480 is rated 250 tdp while my r9 290x is rated 300W each, in hwinfo the power reaches 279-285W so no, they are hotter then the gtx 480.

EDIT: Heck my card is renowned as one of the hotest card ever lol. Thats why you find jokes with amd users and using the pc as a room heater during winter.

Err i'm not sure if you have thinked about it (oy menction it) but the difference between a SLI of 480's and for example a 1050ti is near 450w.

The 480s working 5-6 hours/day could cost near 15$aud/month of electricity alone (and you dont live in Europe, here is almost 10€)... i bet in a year you have expended on electicity bills the cost of the card.

On the other side, the radiators, tubes, pumps, reservoirs, etc.. probably will cost more that the price of a 1060.

But answering you, for 250w i see a 120mm radiator clearly not enought, i will use at least a 240mm for one card or a 360mm for both, you will need to disipate close to 500w of heat, and that's a lot.

i suggest you actually read my post.
1 i never at anypoint mentioned the 1050ti i have litterally 0 interest in the 10 series gpu's.
2 i already have watercooling gear just no cards or water blocks to put them on.
3 i already said i dont care about power draw the reason for that is this pc that the SINGLE 480 is going in is for lan parties that i attend about once a month not every day so i couldnt care less about power.
4 i very clearly said i wouldnt be using both cards i said i would be using 1.

Yep, clear enought.

Ohh sorry i dont known that you already "have" 120mm, 240mm and 360mm radiator to make the build, wthat surprise me is that in that case why dont just slap the biggest one you "already" have.
Sight.

Yes, and i already anser you.

What... where you "very clearly said i wouldnt be using both cards"? maybe in the OR i could get 2 gtx 480's ? maybe the "now im only going to be using the one for now " means that "[strike]now [/strike][strike][/strike]im only going to be using [strike]the [/strike]one [strike]for now[/strike]"?

Anyway, it's your choice. The only thing i regret is to try help you and lose my time.
