Old HDD on a new pc without reinstalling windows?

Can my pc underperform if I do not reinstall windows after changing everything but the HDD? Like, could I have performance issues on games and problems with chrome, Firefox, etc?

Yes, most certainly.
Possible issues after major hardware change such as motherboard - are:
boot mode compatibility issues,
performance issues due to incompatible drivers installed,
windows activation problems.

Yes, cause the drivers in the system may not match the hardware in the system. Depending on which version of windows, it may/may not work as win 10 may have loaded the right drivers for you but unsure how well the old versions of windows go in that regard.

There are 3 possible outcomes:

1. It does not boot. At all.
2. It boots up, but there are performance issues.
3. Everything works just perfectly.

#3 is unlikely.
