Well, there were a bunch of dual- and quad-core Xeon processors built on the same Allendale/Conroe/Wolfdale/Kentsfield architecture as their Core 2 Due/Quad brethren. Whether or not they're compatible with your particular motherboard depends on what motherboard you have.
hello can i put a xeon processor on a g41 motherboard
it works on some or most of the g41/g43 p43 motherboards, you can get the xeon cpus modified from aliexpress no need to the mod yourself.
you might need to mod your bios though, some bios dont need it but i had to do it on this computer im using right now.
if your lucky your bios accepts the cpu without having to mod anything.
i would get this one i got the x5460 myself that is cheaper but this one is only using 80 w tdp meaning that you probably dont need tio upgrade your cpu cooler to.
Or get the X3380 -- same core speeds, same L2 cache, same FSB speed, it's already a Socket LGA 775 CPU (so it's neither modded nor needs to be)...& it only uses 95W vs 120W for the X5460.
