It still spins up and I hear the PC post. After like maybe a minute it'll bring up my keyboard and mouse, charge my phone, etc.
But I am ordering a 700w psu today bc it's cheap on amazon right now. I'll keep this thread open, my adapter is a pos anyways haha.

1. The Molex cable / connector is rated for 13 amps (156 watts)... tho on 18 guage wire that would be about 5 amp limit because voltage drop would be a concern on long lengths (> 18") so call it 5 amps. With 75 watts coming from the PCI slots, you's need 50 watts to come from the cable.... or about 60 watts (135 watts total) ... the card's peak draw for an AIB factory OCd card is about 125 watts.

However, cable adapters are built to the lowest possible specs and with the lowest possible quality materials... bad idea.

2. The B1 is not a quality PSU line, B2 is ... I would suggest cancelling the order.

80 what ? Could be more specific if knew where you are ordering from.

The S12 520 and 620 runs $40 - $50 in US ... The 430 watter which is $37 ($65 in Canada)

The card only requires a 400 watt PSU

So the problem is that my gtx 1060 needs power directly from a good psu...
i have a feeling nothing is actually messed up.
I'll order my psu today and bring my gpu to my friends house, who has a psu thats not ancient.
Ill report back soon and check the forum for posts. Thanks all.

Update: I am most likely going to buy the psu that jty0yt linked. I should be able to go to my friends house to try to boot my 1060 on his system.
I figured I might as well post my specs as well..

Memory: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231428
Mobo: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130856&cm_re=a68hm_grenade-_-13-130-856-_-Product
CPU: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA24G5AY0695&cm_re=a10_7850k-_-9SIA24G5AY0695-_-Product
GPU: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487260&cm_re=evga_gtx_1060-_-14-487-260-_-Product
Win 10 pro 64 bit

It booted off the card "once" but it was very blurry and there were faint funny red lines. Maybe that's a power issue.
Now no matter what I do to settings, the card will just give me a black screen. I have a differet gpu that does not require external power and it works.

It looks like a loooootttttttt of people have this problem with a new gpu installed. I just bought this psu..
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0106RDI3W/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
And that should fix the problem.. hopefully.

Right now Im on the same rig that the 1060 cant boot with. I'm running a dual graphics apu. (specs above.)
If I can i will go to my buddies house and pop my 1060 in there just to make sure it's not a dud. But so far my pc has a tiny bit of overclock room lol maybe 4ghz, and I play on 1080 and 900p, so ill cap my monitors limit with no bottleneck. Just gotta wait on the psu for now, thanks to jty0yt and JackNaylorPE for suggestions. I will close this thread whenever my psu gets in and it "works." Lets hope!

6 pin GPUs run fine from a molex supply, even 8 pin GPUs do, however, the molex connector will likely get fried very soon and then you'll have problems like your PC hanging or GPU running at slower speed (lower hashrate, for example, when mining).

But there is no way one can fry a card by a weak power cable, that's nonsence. If that's a mal-pinned cable, then yes. But not a weak cable.
