Suddenly 2 fps in every single game. HELP PLEASE! My GPU not working!?!?

Yesterday I alt tabbed out of rocket league for 10 minutes, came back and had 40 fps other than my usually 200+. Restarted the game, didn't help. Shut down PC, didn't help. Tried to install new GPU drivers but it said that they failed or could not be installed. I try to check my GPU usage or temperature with MSI Afterburner but it says 0c and the usage is like 484328958473% or something. So yeah, its messed up. Also CPU has a higher load and temperature because the GPU isn't doing anything. I really need some help and have no idea what to do. PLEASE! Thank you!

Have you tried using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) (http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html to uninstall all previous versions of the driver on you card?

I also need to know the exact name of your GPU in your system?
Also, some I'm guessing the CPU is an Intel? Whichever it is, could you also inform me of the make of the CPU?

when a gpu is not working, you don't have image on the monitor or tv

if you have, the card is working, especially knowing that you have the monitor or tv connected to the gpu, is it connected to the gpu? or the mainboard vga or hdmi or dvi port?

if the cpu usage is weird and temps do not correspond that can mean a problem with a program running or the mainboard giving you problems

please tell us the specs of the machine and the windows version used, that includes details of gpu too, all parts

Yes I used DDU and seemed to have worked fine. I open MSI afterburner and it reads a temp and usage. All of the bars on the left of afterburner are greyed out and don't have a number. It says my GPU is Microsoft Basic Display Adapter and Driver Version is blank. Suppose I should redownload everything right now?

Sorry I'm not good at computers, I'm just a kid lol.

Don't worry, I'm just a kid too.

Also, you'll need to download the last stable driver that you had. Don't try downloading more than one at a time.

I go here http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx
Select Geforce, 900 series, gtx 970, windows 10 64 bit, then download that.
I hit accept and it starts to do stuff.... then 2 minutes later it says everything has failed to install. wtf?

No, no, no. Once you download it, don't click it to start the installation process.

First, go to DDU (http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html) and install this.

Then, turn on the program.

Boot into safe mode.

Wipe all previous versions of NVIDIA drivers off your computer.

Restart your computer and then try and download the driver you've downloaded.

after removing the driver, please download the newest one from nvidia for the os you are installing, that would be this one

after you finish the download, install it

then try to play again and see speed resutls

are you using fraps or any other tool to measure fps on game?

ok, that is good, are you overcloking with it?

while there is no driver, try to disable msi overcloking, and when it finishes, leave it at stock speeds and then reapply overclocking values when you know it is working well again

without drivers it will be like that untill you reinstall drivers and possibly restart machine

but it has a "i" button that offers information about the gpu, click on it and verify that you still have a alive and kicking gpu

if it says intel, well, no idea what you did there

is for a gtx 970

in display device there is a generic name because you haven't installed the driver we asked you to download and install

So far so good! The drivers ACTUALLY INSTALLED this time! Shows my GPU and driver version in the MSI screen. And monitor is actually showing 144hz now that control panel installed with the drivers.

Will be testing games now.... hope they work ;o

Just testing a few games for just a few minutes. I'm not getting 3 fps! Seems to be working fine so far. Thanks! If something else messes up i'll ask for help again. I won't alt tab anymore, not worth it. lol
