I recently bought a computer with windows XP already installed and want to add a second hard drive and install windows 7 on it. My question is what is the best way to do this so it gives me a choice which OS to boot into at start up? Do I need to unhook the xp drive while installing 7 or not? If someone could give me step by step it would be greatly appreciated.

Solution
leve the xp drive in. Boot up to the install dvd, and choose the "advanced" or "something else" option (or whatever its called) Format and partition the second hard drive and install. Viola! Xp will be listed in the boot loader as "older operating system" or something like that. If you want xp to boot by default, open msconfig in windows 7 and and find the "boot.ini" tab. then find the entry for Xp, click once on it, and then click set as defualt.
