I recently tried installing an AMD CPU and screwed up by putting it in wrong and bending it. I also bent my old one (Sorry) but manged to bend it back and insert it correctly. I have a new CPU now but I am not sure if I should put it in. My PC did not have a signal to my monitor. Could I have screwed up my motherboard by inserting my CPU wrong? Any answers appreciated, Thanks!

--Specs--
Old CPU- FX 4300 3.8ghz
New- FX 8300 3.3ghz

8 GB ram
Motherboard- Gigabyte ga-78lmt-s2

Yes, you could have damaged the motherboard then. You could have shorted one of the many connections in the socket itself.

You can certainly try another CPU, but I would suspect the motherboard is defective now.

How in the heck did you get the CPU to lock into place? Not beating you up, but it must have been difficult to close the locking lever.

Yes I tried to power it on with it incorrectly, I then took it out and researched more to realize I had it inserted the wrong way.

That is the thing, it did not lock in place. So it just sat their under the cooling fan. It actually stuck to the fan when I took it out. After inserting it correctly and locking it, it did not work, I have my other CPU that hasn't been unboxed yet but I am unsure whether I should test it.
