PC keeps hanging while in games like "Golf with your friends" , "Rust", and i think maybe once in Rocket League. and a couple times in Astroneer. I ran Memtest86+ and passed 4 times. (Im sorta impatient) I went and got Prime95 and 5 mins into the test it says hardware failure on cpu#2 and the PC was locked up had to hard reset... i had a couple other things open.. nothing taxing. So, I tried again with nothing else open.. and it froze up again, but I couldnt see any errors this time(from what I could tell with the small windows). If anyone could offer some insight to what may be potentially wrong here, it would be very much appreciated.

My build includes:
Mobo: Gigabyte 990FXA UD3 R5
CPU: Amd FX 9590 (liquid cooled)
RAM: Kingston DDR3 1600 16Gb (2x8)
GPU: AMD RX 480
PSU: SuperNOVA 850 Watt 80+ Gold

Any information would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Windows 10! I think I may have fixed it. I tried underclockING by changing the cpu multiplier in BIOS and it was working or wasn't freezing rather whilst in prime95... didn't run very long but then went back to stock multiplier and upped the voltage to 1.5375 based on a post I found after looking around for recommended voltages. It's working so far! I will list as solved but will update if things change !
check your motherboard for swollen caps as thats a 220w cpu and while the board is rated to power it, it could be showing signs of wear.

if its hanging in prime after an overclock then check your temps.
dial back your overclock and check your ram timings and voltages are set properly.

I will most definitely do this next, thanks for the quick reply! While waiting for a reply I tried disabling the core boost in BIOS, and tried Prime95 again. This time no errors again, but PC was locked up. Also noticed that my keyboard and mouse were off. They are plugged into the back panel.

Also I guess I should have said, I dont have anything overclocked on this PC.

Thanks!

Update: I removed RAM from another PC that I know works. Pc still froze. Checked SSD and both HDD's with dskchk.exe and bother passed... im assuming that leaves me with the CPU or the mobo to be the cause of this issue ??
