GTX 1080 50% usage

hi, my gpu never goes above 50% in most games. I already put max performance on nvidia panel but still. never goes above 50% usage in games like ETS2. Arma 3. Rust. Gmod. LoL. csgo. ARK.

help pls cuz i already re-installed drivers. and my cpu is i7 7700 running at 4.2 ghz so i dont think that's a bottleneck. in games my cpu is only being used 18%. and gpu 40-50% and at highest 66%.

with newer cpu and mb make sure the mb has the newest bios and you downloaded the newest intel inf chipset drivers.

i already did that. but what has that to do with the gtx 1080? btw I have the latest driver (378.49). should i try some older drivers?

What resolution? Newer hardware hits some point frames wise and just decides to save power. If you're trying to push 450+ fps in CSGO or something a 980/980ti are better for that. Also pretty much any game at 1080p will stop usually at less than 200-250fps.

1080p but everything maxed. on rust i get like 50-60 fps while i should get 100 i think. games are not using full gpu. only 50%

Does it have impact on your games like low fps? If not, then it could mean your GPU doesn't really need to go 100% on those titles..

yes it does impact my fps. i even get a lot of stuttering... cuz usage dropping to 1% and back to 50%. when it goes higher than 50% i get more fps. but now im stuck at 40-60 fps with a lot of stuttering

Have you checked power profiles of windows as well? Maybe the CPU is in power saving mode.

Okay things I'd suggest. Update bios. Ensure EVERYTHING in bios related to power saving is off, or set to performance. Also do the same in Windows itself. The CPU speed and GPU speed (while gaming, not while idle)

Okay, so I updated my bios again. updated cpu drivers. GPU drivers already up-to-date.
I went through the power saving modes in bios. even though there weren't any options there for gpu/cpu or ram. I did the same in windows.
still not getting above 50% usage... what now :c?

Try removing the gpu driver using DDU and then reinstalling. The fact it works ok with benchmarks means it has to be software/driver related.

Which bios version is currently on the board?

Did you reset your bios after updating by jumper?

Run 3dmark timespy, click on compare result online and post the link which comes up.

Uninstall geforce experience

Have a look at your manual, how to reset the bios. At least load the default settings in bios.

Okay, I reset bios to default (through bios, not jumper method)
and I uninstalled geforce experience.

gpu usage is now 70-80%.
but the game looks a lot worse

note* on games like ats, gta v --> I get 99% usage. i know rust is not optimised but 50% usage. is that normal?
update: I kind of fixed it. I've set rust to high priority in taskmanager and now it's using 60% but well over 100 fps. thank you guys!
