is this possible?:
-Build another computer with the same model motherboard which my current win8 is installed to. -Install same win 8 key to new computer

I guess that would work but my current PC (which had the win8 key installed on it first) might give me a problem the second I connect it to the internet. But maybe I could transfer my HDD to the new PC and make the old PC an offline PC. But then I would need updates for the offline PC. I guess I could make a thumb drive of updates and transfer them to the offline PC but I'd rather spend the $100 for another win8 key. Also, the offline PC might NEED an internet connection to update so that people can't do this.

Not even sure what Win8.1 I would need either. I see some sell for only like $40 online version. I have 64 bit OEM.

One last thing, could I buy a used laptop and replace the SSD and install OEM win 8.1 on it? I know laptops usually come with a striped-down non OEM CD version of windows that is sort of not a complete wipeout instillation. I'm just concerned that if I buy a used laptop, I would want to completely wipe away the previous owners data, even more so than a reformat. When I reformatted with XP and a mechanical HDD, I used to DBAN wipe the whole HDD and then install OEM just to make sure any spyware etc wouldn't get through from the old install.
