I just got my EVGA gt 730 installed into my pc, but for some reason the card isn't found in display adapters, only the integrated graphics is there and I have it disabled. I tried using nvidia and evga's drivers and the CD which came with the gpu, but those drivers didn't work either. The cd gave drivers for "Unknown Device", which I assume is the gpu since it says the same thing under Other Devices in Device Manager and I can tell it's the gt 730 since it says the location is PCI bus 1. How can I make the gt 730 show up there, or have my pc detect it instead if it saying "Unknown Device"?

EDIT:
I fixed it now, all I had to do was install the drivers in safe mode.

Solution

Have you tried updating BIOS? Even if you already have the newest version, go ahead and flash over it. This will eliminate the possibility of a corrupt BIOS giving you issues.

Didn't work, it was the exact same as the nvidia drivers.

First of all make sure the card isn't doa. Install it in a friends rig to see if it works. If it does then reinstall card, go to device manager, click on display adapter, right click for "scan for hardware changes". See if that helps.

I don't think its dead. The fan on it spins when I turn my pc on and I'm able to hook my monitor to it without any problems with the display. But I'll try to scan for hardware changes.
edit: didn't work

MERGED QUESTION
Question from McNuggz : "New graphics card detected as "Unknown Device" in Device Manager."

Sorry, I'll be offline for awhile. There's a severe thunderstorm coming and our local power grid isn't exactly the most stable.

Try turning off your PC and re-sit the graphics card in a differant PCIE slot then boot up the computer go to device manager and like the other guy said scan for hardware/system changes.

Did I say to plug it in? Please read carefully if you are going to troll.

Sorry for the late reply but I just got it tested in my friends rig and it's not dead.

When I said supplemental power, I meant the 6-pin or 8-pin connectors that provide the extra power that the slot can't provide on its own. I wasn't trolling.
