a4 is a fm socket am3+ is AM3+ socket so right off I'd say NOPE
all motherboard s has a cpu compatibility list ffrom the manufacture
example AM3+ [notice no A4]
http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/990FX%20Extreme4/?cat=CPU
example FM1 board [notice A4 cpus]
http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/A75%20Pro4-M/?cat=CPU
and FM2 [notice A4 as well ]
http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/FM2A88X%20Extreme6+/?cat=CPU
knowing that is important along as what bios each needs to be supported under and used for it and only cpu's listed in the motherboards cpu list should be used with that board
damage may occur if not careful
just to add if your board shipped with bios 1.04 and the cpu you bought requires bios 1.25 its still not supported till you flash to the supporting bios and may not work at all
then you would need a supported CPU that's supported under bios 1.04 to boot in order to flash to the supporting bios you need for the cpu you first wanted to use
I find it safe to get a CPU that's supported under ALL bios's cause you never know what bios is shipped from the factory to you on any board umless you buy it at a store and can look at the stickers on the motherboard box
if no bios sticker is on it then its all ways first release [ at least with the brands I use ] any revision bios over first release they put the sticker indicating that and its number
