Hello guys! So I've build this PC almost 2 years ago , around Skylake's launch and I got myself a 6600k and an ASrock Z170 Extreme4. It was my first time building a PC and I've never really overclocked (I know , its a waste :p) However , today I decided to bite the bullet and overclocked my CPU to 4.4 at 1.265 vcore on Fixed mode and I have a couple questions. I heard "fixed mode" doesn't decrease the voltage on idle. Will it affect anything? I'm trying to keep this CPU+Motherboard for atleast a year or a year and a half before going X99 sometime this year or next year. Also , I've set the vcore to 1.265 in the bios and Aida64&HWMonitor says its 1.296 for some reason. What's up with that? Here's a screenshot:

Thanks in advance!

Solution
fixed/manual mode does not decrease voltage when CPU is idling.
there is an adaptive mode. I usually set 0.001v for offset and whatever i want for the "additional voltage" ... those names are from ASUS bios, so yours might be different a bit.

there is no issue to keep the fixed mode. do degrade a CPU within short period (couple of years) a 1.4v or/and high temps are required.

regarding voltages - use HWInfo64 - it displays per core voltages. they might be slightly (0.00x difference) different from what you set in bios but not that much as you see.

HWiNFO64 reports 1.175-1.205 per core and for the vcore 1.296 and the max it went was 1.312 (!?). Temps look fine. Should I do the offset voltage thing? ASrock's settings seems different from the others and most guides use the "Fixed mode". Is it something I should stress over?
