PC Specs:

CPU: Intel i7-6700k
Mobo: Asrock b150m pro4/hyper
SSD: Micron Crucial MX300 525gb
RAM: Samsung DDR4 8g x2
GPU: Radeon RX460
PSU: Cougar STX550 80PLUS
Fan: ThermoLab Trinity (130mm)

my new PC keeps freezing with rx460. it happens only when I'm doing something relatively GPU-intensive (watching 4k 60fps videos, playing games), but not when i'm surfing on the web. PC functions fine when it's run with iGPU. I've tried many different driver versions (yes, I used DDU), underclocking the GPU, tweaking with other Wattman options, updated BIOS, reinstalled windows, but with no avail. GPU temps are completely fine when they freeze, something like <60C. Sometimes after the freeze it will display the message "Default Radeon WattMan settings have been restored due to unexpected system failure."

Could this be a faulty GPU problem? This is my first time using a Radeon card and it's making me miss Geforce a lot...

Solution

so it runs fine on low powered tasks, but as soon as you load the gpu it crashes...

test with another power supply, or test the gpu in another system

run DDU, clean all gpu drivers off

re install newest drivers from the amd website

thanks for the input. but as i said, "I've tried many different driver versions (yes, I used DDU)", and that obviously includes amd's newest driver (17.1.2)
