i7 860 2.8 GHz Overclocking on Intel H55 motherboard?

Can I overclock an i7 860 2.8 GHz to 3.4 GHz on an Intel H55 motherboard? I am going to buy an MSI GTX 1050 Ti so I asked some people if my cpu is going to be a bottleneck and they said I should OC my CPU to at least 3.4 GHz. Is it possible to safely oc it on my motherboard?

That motherboard is not really ideal for overclocking. Also what kind of cooler is on your CPU?

To overclock a CPU properly you really want a decent mobo+decent cooler in your corner or you are going to hit your ceiling really quickly.

I am using a pre-built PC so I don't know which one it exactly is. But I know that it has fans. :/
