Can Chromium be automatically updated?

Hi.

I was wondering if Chromium can be automatically updated such as when I go into the About section in Chrome or Firefox and press Check for Updates?

Do all the apps and add-ons that work with Google Chrome work with Chromium? And is the browser experience any better?

Chromium was installed. Chromium kept starting as soon as I started my computer and I had to uninstall it. Is there a way to prevent the auto-start?

Chromium is updated with your system updates, no need to update it from within the software (unless you're on windows).
Yes all the apps and addons that work with chrome work with chromium. The browser experience isn't exactly better, it just doesn't have any of the proprietary stuff the Google adds. Honestly if you don't care about privacy issues I would go with chrome, as it has better support and DRM content playback. Besides, if you link chromium to your Google account privacy will still be an issue. If you are concerned with privacy or want to stay with OSS, better go with Firefox, which is much more private, has better performance and is completely open source.
As for the auto-start, go to your system settings and look under...

As for the auto-start, go to your system settings and look under 'startup apps' and disable it from the list.
