Hello,
i am facing a strange issue with my SSD. it is PATA drive.

i am using this drive in video survilence system. after specific time we take off this device from recorder and connected to PC using PATA to usb 3.0 reader and previously we were using this drive with PATA to usb2.0 reader. because of the speed i shifted towards usb3.0.

when i was using PATA to USB2.0 converters, everything in this world was fine apart from slow coping speed.
when we shifted to PATA to usb3.0 readers, my SSD detects initially, but if i insert it multiple times on my computer, it stops detecting on my computer or any other computer. initially i thought its PATA to USB3.0 reader that has become faulty, but after changing the usb3.0 reader with a new one, problem still same. therefore i decided to connect my drive with old pata to usb2 reader, and the result was good by drive detected normally on same PC and win7 with all the data. then i shifted back on usb3.0 readers, no detection.
so i decided to format the SSD on usb2.0 readers, and after formatting i reconnected the ssd on usb3.0, and guess surprisingly it detected.

Then i repeated whole cycle as mentioned above, i connected and disconnected SSD several times with PATA to USB3 reader, similar problem occurred and i did same, full formatting on USB2.0 readers, then it starts detecting on usb3.0 readers. (please note that its full format that works, not quick format)

i have about 10 SSDs behaving exactly similarly.

i have just gone mad about this issue, i hope some of you guys must have any idea about this issue. i dont know much about SSD internal architecture, but something related to MBR BIOS Parameter block or this like this are getting corrupted.

Aamir

I have seen this issue happen with adapters before (not working, then formatting in another adapter and then working on the first one that did not work), have not seen a fix aside from just dealing with the issue. You can try contacting the vendor of the adapter and asking their support.

Thanks HANG THE 9. May be you r rite but still I am awaiting for solution. Have you heard about any compatibility issues between usb3 and pata conversion. As few days back I took another usb3 reader from different manufacturer, but it was also behaving similarly.
