Hello community,

Right now i have 8 (2x4) GB DDR3-1600 RAM in Dual Channel Mode. Im thinking about upgrading to 16 GB by adding another 8 GB Bar of DDR3-1600 Ram. Is it needed and worth the money. While playing GTA for example, im using 7 GB of my RAM and i think thats too much.
My Motherboard is only supporting DDR3 Ram.
Thank you for your help in advance

Sincerely,

Increasing your DRAM will only help in games that push you over 8gb in use. I have never seen GTA V use more than 4 or 5gb of ram. How much ram do you have in use at idle?

Some games like BF1 for example can benefit from 16gb of ram. In bf1 I use about 8.2gb total, including the 1.2gb my system uses at idle.

8GB ram for gaming are the recommended . But if you are reaching that number all the time yes its time to upgrade it . If you can afford the upgrade that will do you some good ! :)

My ram usage at idle is between 20 and 30 percent. I wanted to upgrade it because im experiencing some stuttering in GTAV after a while and i thought it might be the RAM who gets to the limit after 30 minutes of gameplay. Is that possible?
What else could be the problem?

Im using the Z77 Asrock extreme 3 MB, a i5 3570k CPU and a RX480 8GB.
PSU and cooling are not the problem. Temps are ok with the Corsair H100i watercooling system
