You're wrong: your mobo supports dual channel just as virtually every mobo today. So you are getting 8 GB. Anyway even if it was single channel you could still have two sticks running on the same channel it is enough that there is the physical space in it

Looks like the 'board WILL allow you to use the current memory but you'll either have to leave the XMP feature disabled, which should leave the memory running at a default of 2133MHz, or you'll have to set a manual XMP profile at a lower speed.
