Hey all, I recently upgraded my CPU, Motherboard and RAM. Keeping my SLI GTX 680s. After getting everything in place I noticed from major FPS drop while gaming. I would go from around 60-90 fps to 20 fps. I started looking at temperatures and my CPU never crested 60 degrees during this time. However I noticed that when one of my cards would get over 65 degrees it the fps lag would start. I first noticed this when running Forza Horizon 3 (which only using one card), after about 5m it would start to lag, when I turned the GPU fan speed way up and cooled it below 65 it would recover. I then swapped slots to use my other card, I pushed the card to 75+ and there was no fps drop. Again through all this my CPU was around 60.
While playing a game that utilized SLI I noticed the same trend, that when that one specific card reached over 65 the fps lag will appear. Leading me to believe that this card is causing the issues.
I had never noticed this before upgrading my system, could this be an indication that the card is going bad (or doing the install something got messed up with it) or could this just be a red herring for something else. I would think if it was something with another component I would be able to replicate it with no matter what card I am using.
I am open to suggestions to try. Right now I have an aggressive fan speed profile set for that one card when keep the problem away, but makes my pc really loud, so a more effective solution would be preferred
