Hi there,
I just bought some new components for a new computer I'll use as a media server to upgrade from the 8+ year old one I have, and I can't seem to get the new one to POST. My components are as follows:
CPU Intel Kaby Lake Core i3-7100
CPU Cooler Stock
Motherboard MSI B150M Pro-VD
RAM Corsair 8GB DDR4 Ram stick , 2133 MHz(CMV8GX4M1A2133C15)
Power Supply Corsair CX450M 450w semi modular
Video Card : None
Case: Cooler Master N200 Mini Tower
OS: Not installed yet, will be Win 10/64bit
Storage: 2 HDDs and 3 SSDs (SSD will be boot drive)

The symptoms are:
Everything has power, the CPU fan and chasis fan spins, my hard drives spin, etc. On the Mobo itself there are three LEDs indicating CPU, DRAM, and VGA associated with the MSI Easy Debugger feature. When I apply power, fans spin up, the CPU LED lights up, then the DRAM light will stay on for about 5 seconds, then turn off. After that, nothing else happens. At no point is there a video signal from the onboard VGA or DVI ports. I know my display and cables are good, I've used them elsewhere.

Things I've already tried doing:
Reseating everything (CPU, RAM, Motherboard, heatsink every connection); removing the Motherboard completely from the case with only the bare bones connections necessary to boot, and still same result. It seems like the board is detecting the RAM, because when I remove it completely, my speaker buzz beeps at me, and when it is installed, it doesn't beep at me. I've checked the memory against the compatibility list the MSI provides on its support page for the board, and it is compatible. The only thing that has me a little concerned is that the BIOS needs to be updated to support the 7th gen Kaby Lake series CPU. However, I can't do that if my board doesn't even post.

If anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears,
I have gone through the standard article about the steps to resolve post issues here and still not working for me:

Thank you,
Paul

For that B150 Chipset model you will need to install a 6th Generation CPU to flash the BIOS. A 6th Generation Celeron is about $50.

You can also exchange motherboard for B250 Chipset model that does not need a BIOS update for 7th Generation i3-7100 Processor.

• Intel B250
• 7th Gen processors support DDR4 2400/ 2133

Thanks Calvin7, that's what i was afraid of. I'm going to return my motherboard and get the board you recommended. I'll let you know how it turns out!
