I am planning on building a computer with an i5-7500. It is 3.4GHz and has a turbo to 3.8GHz and comes with a stock cooler. One of my friends said that this cooler is not enough for gaming and I was wondering if it was enough and if not what should l get instead?

1) That 3.4 to 3.8GHz is really underwhelming considering Kaby Lake IPC is no better than Skylake because #Complacent-Intel
2) The stock cooler is specifically designed to handle that CPUs thermal output. If his is not doing its job, I'd recommend that he checks that it's properly seated and that the fan is actually spinning.

I can't say I can disagree with them not being pleasing in terms of the noise they make, but it's rather rare that a clean cooler that's mounted properly with a working fan will fail to keep the CPU below the maximum allowed temperature.
