Need help for picking cpu

Hello,

I might be able to get a z97 board for cheap ($20 CAD) if i put it in a case with 8gbs of ram and a R9 380 what cpu would you recommend?

It would be ASUS Gryphon z97 which i see when it was sold around $175, but is it worth it for games that re out now.

I use a z87 gryphon with I5 4570 and it still rocks all games.

I suggest I5 4570 or 4590, though for the price you might as well spend 50 more and get I7-4790K and overlock the snot out of it.

If I had to build myself a new PC in the near (but not immediate) future, I might look at AMD's R5-1400X.

Going with the z77/z87 chipsets leaves you stranded with older-gen built-in IOs. Between Intel's newer CPUs, upgraded interconnects is in many cases the biggest benefit.

This would be for a selling build so would you say i should go for the non overclocking build?
