Hey,
So, I just installed a watercooler on my build just because I figured I could get rid of heatsink whine and some other noise.
Since I have installed it, I notice I get FPS drop while running CSGO, my temps aren't any better, infact they are slightly higher, and im getting a lot of performance drop.
I read in one place that motherboards might throttle if the motherboard is a cheap one....
Can anyone recommend anything?

Build:
Motherboard: ASRock Z170 Pro4S LGA 1151
CPU: I7-6700k
GPU: Gigabyte G1 Gtx 1060 Gddr5 - 6Gd
RAM: HyperX Fury 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 2400
Watercooler:Corsair H110i v2
Previous cooler:ARCTIC Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2

If you need more info let me know.

Solution
If it is right after a watercooling install then i would assume 2 things. Either 1, You messed up when applying thermal paste, or 2, the fans aren't behaving. Im leaning towards thermal paste

Either your gpu is not getting enough cooling, or you installed it without fans on the watercooler itself. The thing should have fans attatched to it. And can you specify what is making the heat? Ps if your watercooler heatsink has no airflow its ducked.

It has 2 fans attached to the radiator. The GPU never spiked over 65.Which is what is has always done at most.
CSGO is a cpu intensive game moreso. I saw temps up to 78 on the cpu.

so your telling me that your cpu is not cooling well with a watercooler. Ok a few more possibilities, either its not working properly, or the water flow os blocked. If that is not the case, it might be a software proublem, and csgo is not very cpu intensive (seriously, one can run it on an i3 for christ sakes. I said NOT VERY not NOT CPU INTENCIVE AT ALL.

The source engine is CPU intensive, but still requires a decent GPU.
This game is very light on GPU usage. That means that CPU speed affects it the most.
All source engine games are CPU heavy.
Anyway, moving on from that.

I can hear the water flowing without any problems. I can try moving the tubes around.
I am worried that my MOBO VRMS might be overheating.
I guess it could possibly be the psu as well? Maybe?

I agree, one time i put TOO little paste, and also my other pc (my experimental pc) i put a bit too mutch and it almost fried parts of the motherboard if I didn't see it.

Hi, I am running the exact same Graphics card as you, processor however my Watercooler is a corsair H115i. My best suggestion is to make sure the thermal paste is properly applied. Another thing is i really really dont like the corsair software so my watercooler and fans are controlled through AI Suite (Asus Motherboard utility) my CPU runs idle at 25oC and after 10 minutes of prime 95 55-60oC. Also if you had to remount the fans to the watercooler (maybe for cable management) make sure they are both pushing air out through the watercooler it sounds stupid but is easily done as for the FPS i never had issues with my 1060. But maybe make sure you have the latest drivers. Im sorry to hear you are having these issues if you find the solution please post it here i would be happy to learn what the root cause was.
