need some expert advice about graphics cards

i currently have a GeForce 550 graphics card. My pc was built by my friend for gaming. Needless to say it was built probably 4-5 years ago.. I was wondering what would be a good upgrade as i use it for gaming also. The games that i play are DOTA 2 and some FPS games. I currently run DOTA 2 on ultra settings at around 60fps. any ideas would be appreciated. i personally like the GeForce cards as apposed to the competitors. my cpu is i7, has a gigabyte 3.0 mother board but im not really sure about the rest. When i run a performace test on my pc it says that my score is 7.6 processor, 7.6 memory, 7.3 graphics, 7.3 gaming graphics, and 6.9 primary hard disk. thx in advance

power supply is an ampower ep-600mp(600) watt and my cpu is core i7. And as for my budget.. Probably around $200 range.

The lower your resolution, the more emphasis is placed on the cpu. If you were using a 1440 monitor I'd scream at you to get a GTX 1060.

ok then you have at least an i7 920

a rx 470 would be the best gpu to pair with your setup, your resolution is low anything more would be wasted

try to get a 1080p monitor as well when you can

you are going to need to upgrade the psu as well though, because what you currently have is pretty terrible

get a tier 1 or 2 450w or better unit from this list
