Hello, so currently i Have a router model HG8346R. its a very cheap router from huawei company which was provided by my ISP, they are providing me with a FTTH internet plan. but i cannot access my router from my browser, previously i could and when i contacted my ISP they said that i am not allowed to access my router (P.S it is rental, and i have to give it back to ISP after my use so maybe they are allowed to do that or not ,I Dont know) , so my question is if i am to buy my own personal router then how can i identify if it supports fiber optic cable or not i.e while checking in the internet. is there a specific model no. or name or and othere specifics that helps me to know if it supports fiber optics. currently i dont have any additional devices like ONT, its a single router and a cable is connected to it.

You probably aren't allowed to access the router because the ONT is "inside it" so you actually have a router and a ONT in one device. You will always have to use that router but you can buy an extra one and connect it via ethernet. I assume you wan't to play a bit with port forwarding, passwords and so on. But you will have to ask your isp to setup their device in Bridge mode and disable DHCP, that way you will be able to control the routing part and their device will only serve as an ONT. Also, make sure you get a gigabit router.
