cpu temp vs core temp (speedfan)

i used speccy,afterburner and speedfan to keep an eye on cpu temp
speccy,afterburner shows cpu temp at 82C (video editing)
speedfan shows cpu temp as 48 and core temp as 80
cpu temp/core temp why do these have very different temp

Speedfan is versatile and granular, sometimes confusing, and capable of reporting a wide ranges of values from various sensors. In my experience it's been up to me to decide which values are in fact valid for my usage/interpretation.
