Is this upgrade worth it? From AMD 1055T, to Intel I5-4690K.

Hi everyone!

I'm thinking about replacing my current AMD cpu with an Intel one, so that comes with a new motherboard too, I know. It's not cheap for me, so I tought I'll ask here about your toughts before going into this upgrade.

Mostly I'd like this, is because the games I play runs around at a not so comfortable, but still playable 20-30 FPS range with low-medium settings, or if it runs 60 at max settings, it drops down to the 30-40 when a lot of effects are drawn (eg.: League of Legends teamfights).
I'm not a hardcore gamer who wants maxed out graphics and 120 FPS, but I wanna enjoy the 40-60 range at least even if it's on low, it would be a great experience. :)

As I know, games don't use many cores, and my cpu's single core performance looked quite behind in tests which I found. That's why I tought about a cpu and motherboard upgrade instead of the gpu.

I also make 3D models in blender, and I think it uses CPU for rendering, but it may be changeable? I'm not sure about this tho.

Now, after all my rambling, here are the specs.
My current build includes an AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 2.8GHz AM3
which is on an MSI 990FXA-GD65 motherboard.
I also have 2x8GB 1866 MHz RAM
and for a GPU, i have GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 660 OC 2GB GDDR5 192bit.
The PSU is a chieftec gpa-600s 600W.

For the upgrade, I picked an Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz LGA1150,
and for the motherboard, a GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-Gaming 3.

My question is, does this worth it? Will I have better gaming and model rendering experience? Or should I spend this budget to a better gpu, instead of a cpu and a motherboard?

If you have any other CPU + motherboard suggestions for this price range (120.000 HUF, which is 412 USD at the moment), please let me know that too! :) (The motherboard should have an SPDIF Digital connection, I use my sound system through that.)

Solution
Before I would have said yes. Now I suggest you wait for AMD's new Ryzen. If you still want the i5 least it should effect the prices on the i5's.

Oh wow. Thanks for letting me know that! I didn't really know about this Ryzen thing, and it looks promising too! :D I'm curious when will it get to my country. :) But I'm worried about the motherboards not having SPDIF, I don't see that on too many of them :S
And DDR4 RAMs are quite pricey too  Or will there be DDR3 motherboards for the Ryzen CPUs? :)

The motherboards launch next week and the CPU the 2nd of March. I dont think there will be DDR3 motherboards but DDR3 is going away. This means DDR3 upgrades will increase in price where DDR4's upgrades will be cheaper. Given the price of the CPU you could get an 8 core AMD for $318 to match Intels 6900k. The AMD to match the i5 is a $200 quad core.

Thanks for everytinhg! :) I'm gonna wait about a month or max two, see how the prices change. I do hope DDR4 will be cheaper, 2x8 GB is really expensive right now, or will 2x4 GB be enough? That has an acceptable price, and I may end up spending even less money then the upgrade I posted in the question, if I go with the i5 equivavlent cpu. :)
