Hi,
I am looking to buy a new PC with an i7 7700k CPU in a Fractal design define R5 case. I've heard the CPU's run a little hot but i'm not planning on overclocking but buying it because the base clock speed is faster than the 7700.

I am looking for a CPU fan (not liquid) which is quiet and has the best performance. I had been looking at the following:

BE QUIET! DARK ROCK PRO 3 135mm
Noctua NH-d15
Noctua NH-U14S
Hyper 212 evo

And wondering if anyone had any views on them or could recommend any others in a similar price range?

I also don't care whether they look ugly as i'm going to go for the blackout version of the r5 case.

Thanks

Solution
That is true of almost any CPU.

There are coolers designed to not interfere with memory, though most of the ones listed here you can move the fan up to clear taller than average memory, or you can move the fan to the other side.

If you are concerned you can stick to memory that doesn't have tall heat spreaders.

I was reading in the latest issue of computer shopper that the 7700k runs hot under intense tasks. As i will be using it for music production and video encoding i decided a larger fan may help. Why do you prefer the Dark Rock over the Noctua NH-U14s? Is there anyway i can find out if installing either the dark rock or noctua will block some of the memory dimms on a specific mobo? Im considering the following https://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-Intel-Z270-GAMING-M5-USB2-Motherboard/dp/B01N9NZF81/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1487186700&sr=8-1&keywords=z270+m5

I have a Noctua NH-U14S in my Define R5. Temp rarely goes over 65C in gaming. The preinstalled case front and rear fans rarely go above 500 RPM while the CPU fan stays at 300 RPM. All fans controlled by the Mobo. Temp monitored by HWinfo and ambient temp at 20-22C.
