Ok, so I have had this issue occurring at random times over the last few days. I'll bootup and everything will be fine. I'll start up a youtube video and it will load and begin with no issues. After a random amount of time, sometimes 30 seconds and sometimes 3 or 4 videos later, my internet will freeze the video. At this time, I can no longer load any videos or pages, my sound cuts out, and my peripherals stop responding.

I usually end up having to force shutdown and let it sit for a minute or two before restarting. Sometimes the issues are fixed when I restart and other times they are not fixed.

Is this a sign that my motherboard is failing or something else?

Solution
With system being 5 years old, sudden freezes might be caused by dead motherboard battery. Simple test: unplug your PC off the wall for few minutes, plug it back and boot. If you will see any kind of BIOS warning, or after loading OS you'll see wrong date/time, it's the dead battery problem.

If you have various outdated drivers, and a virus, or a defective motherboard, the best thong to do is clean your pc, with a strong antivirous, or call your manuturer for support

s it videos from the internet it can be the ethernet port..ram or hard drive. start with hdtune read your hard drive smart info look for any warnings. also run hard drive vendor test tools. from a usb stick make a bootable copy of memtest86 run it overnight for any errors. use hardware info 64 bit set it to sensor and logging make sure power supply 3 rails are holding (3.3/5/12v).

Is it possible that it is simply old? I haven't upgraded since I built the system mid 2011. Last I check all drivers are up to date and virus shouldn't be an issue, have run multiple scans to check.
