Hey guys, has anyone had a chance to put two systems like this up against each other?
I'm building a PC for my old man. All he will be doing is surfing the net, playing YouTube and downloading things.
I have come to the assumption that a G4560 coupled with an SSD will most likely be a lot snappier for general computer use than an i5 6400 and an HDD.
Maybe if he were to do some rendering or video editing the i5 might come into its own but he won't be doing any of that.
I'm pretty much certain my assumptions are right but I'd like to hear from anyone who has actually compared something similar side by side!
I can put together a G4560+SSD for around $540 where is: he could go and buy an i5 6400+HDD prebuilt for around $850!
I won't even mention how bad of a CPU are in pre built machines at the $500 mark lol.
I should also mention that my build will have 2x4Gb dual channel 2133mhz ram where is the pre built comes with a single 8Gb stick with a lower clock frequency.
Thanks for your answers....not that I really need them lol.

Doesn't matter which CPU you go with, an SSD will definitely improve the overall use experience. I won't go back to using an HDD for OS and programs. For your father's needs, the G5460 and an SSD will be a good choice.
