6700k CPU/MOBO/RAM for £415 or wait for Ryzen?

So I could sell my CPU/MOBO/RAM for around £160 and buy the 6700k, I'm not in dire need of upgrading but I would like to have something faster for Handbrake/Gaming (GTX 1070 getting slightly bottlenecked).

This could be a great move if Ryzen falls flat as I can get my hands on that 6700k really cheap.

I think you should probably wait till Ryzen is realized, if those new chips performs as good as they seem, well it will be the time for a complete upgrade with new Ryzen or Intel that will be forced to drop prices to compete (at least that what I think) but all depends of AMD and is true that they haven’t give us too much confidence :pt1cable:

I follow the links you post and could not find those prices you mention

The board and RAM I can get from retail at those prices, the 6700k will be used but from a respectable forum member at one of my favorite retailers. It'll be delided already so with a NH-D15 or AIO will get me 4.7 ghz rather easily imo.

My friend just purchased my i5 6500, and i already have a z170 motherboard, and i just ordered a i7 7700k since i already have the board. i hope i am not going to regret it. I mainly just use my pc for gaming and some streaming. I just didn't want to have to get a new motherboard.

I do not think Intel will drop the prices on kaby lake... but they will on skylake seeing as it is still the same price as kaby lake. as for Ryzen, it will probably edge out Intel in certain aspects simply due to it being released after, but the difference will not be drastic by any means. i find the choosing of amd vs intel based soley on minor performance gains to be pointless anyways seeing as they constantly just flip flop and by the time next gen comes out it flip flops again. what is important to me is if you are an AMD fan or Intel fan. for me it's Intel all the way, nothing but good experience, you simply can't go wrong with an Intel cpu.

op, can you get the kaby lake cpu for the same price in that combo? you are getting the z270 motherboard so why not?

My bios sometimes freezes so i havent tried. But i called asrock, and they sent me a replacement bios chip. I just take out the old 1 and just add the new upgraded bios chip. Im guessing its the same thing as a flash
