Nvidia GTX GPU Release Question

I am getting ready to rebuild my gaming PC. However, I am holding off on replacing my Asus GTX 970 at this time out of concern that Nvidia may release either an update or successor to the current GTX 1000 series within the next three months and don't want to shell out the money on a model that may soon be replaced. I have heard of the likelihood that Nvidia will announce the release of the GTX 1080 Ti next month. I have never really kept track of Nvidia or Radeon's GPU release date histories. My question is if Nvidia is releasing a Ti card, what are the chances that they may announce a refresh or successor to their other cards like the GTX 1060 and 1070? The longest that I am willing to wait is mid-July, because I intend to have my 970 replaced before I head back to school with whatever is the current model series available. Thanks in advance.

Rumours suggest that this years cards will be a pascal refresh. What's intersting is the current pascal titan doesn't use the full chip so I'd guess the fully unlocked gp102 chip will be the 1080ti or 2080.

It'll be awhile until the 1060/1070/1080 are replaced, 1080ti is just going to be better than a 1080 awhile keeping AMD Vega at bay (AMD's next generation card), if you want to buy a 1080 now you might want to wait unless a good deal comes.

If you are still okay with the 970 then you could always wait.

I am currently leaning toward a GTX 1070 or its updated variant or successor. Like I said, I am willing to give Nvidia until July to release an update or successor to the GTX 1000 series. If I recall correctly, Nvidia announced the GTX 1000 series in March of last year and released them in May. Do you think they will do a refresh of the 1060 and 1070 this year or are they just going to keep the same models until Volta is released next year?

I wouldn't wait that long, if you do so then you know what is around the corner, I always try and buy my stuff when it's released to get the most out of it.
