I had an old hard drive which had started to die it had my installation of Windows on it as well. So I bought a new SSD and a new HDD the SSD was to run my OS (Windows 10 64Bit), the Hard drive was for all of the storage the old drive had on it. After I had reinstalled Windows my computer was working fine, then one time when i went to start up my computer it came up with the blue screen and the stop code of Critical Service Failed. After unplugging all my hard drives (except the SSD with Windows) the computer booted again. I the plugged the hard drives back in except the new Hard drive as this was the one creating the problem. I have ordered a new Sata cable which came and that did not solve the problem as every time I try to boot with that Hard drive plugged in it comes up with Critical Service Failed. The hard drive had been working before so it was like it had been completely broken when i got it. Is there a way to fix this or is the Hard drive corrupt? And I have to get a new one. Thanks for any replies.

Hey there

Have you tried a different SATA port as well? Give it a go with a different computer, to see if the same thing happens. You could also try booting to Ubuntu Live USB, to see if the drive is properly recognized.
Unfortunately if you can't even run a diagnostic check on that drive your only option is to RMA it by contacting the vendor you got it from or the manufacturer's customer support.

Hope that helps.
