Hey guys I've been looking around at different threads about using different sticks of RAM together but I'm still not sure if this would work. I had 2x4GB sticks of Ballistix DDR3-1600 CAS9 9-9-9-24 and one of them started to have errors in MEMtest so I new I had to get new RAM. Anyways I bought a new single stick of Adata DDR3-1600 CAS 11 11-11-11-28 RAM and I was wondering if I could also use the one good Ballistix stick as well for a total of 12GB of RAM.

You can try. Make sure to start with the stick with the highest timings, set them manually in the bios. Then add the other sticks. This will force all of them to run at the slowest sticks speed. This will not ALWAYS work but it works most of the time for me. Some boards try to change settings automatically when you add a stick with different settings. It is at least worth a shot.

Alright I set my timings in the BIOS to 11-11-11-28, the slowest of the two sticks, and it booted up fine! I've been running MemTest for a little while and I haven't gotten any errors so it's looking good! Also I do plan on RMAing the Ballistix RAM but I'm currently out of the country so I can't ATM.
